Legal & disclaimers

StreetSense is a field-reference tool built for law enforcement by a working officer. This page explains what that means for how you use it, and links the documents that govern the app and this site.

StreetSense is an educational reference. It is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for your agency’s training, your department’s policies, or your prosecutor’s guidance. Charging decisions rest with your command staff and prosecutor. When the facts are close, verify against the current official statute before you act.

FEDERAL FLOOR · YOUR STATE MAY BE STRICTER

Case-law summaries describe the federal constitutional floor. Many states impose stricter requirements under their own constitutions and statutes. Where a state rule is stricter, that state rule controls in that state. Always confirm your own jurisdiction’s rule.

CONTENT ACCURACY

Statutes, regulations, and case law change. We compile from official sources and run a multi-round accuracy review before content ships, and corrections go out over the air — but no reference is perfect or perfectly current. Verify against the official source before relying on any entry.

TEMP-TAG SCANNER

The temp-tag scanner is a decision-support aid for verified law enforcement officers; verification is required and approval is not guaranteed. It does not make legal determinations and its results are not a substitute for your own investigation. Any scan-result imagery used in marketing is illustrative and not a live scan.

NO TRACKING

StreetSense does not log your searches or track you across other apps and websites for advertising. What we do and don’t collect is set out in full in the Privacy Policy below.
